Reporting and Auditing
In order to remain ISO9000 Compliant, this manufacturer needed to provide reporting and
auditing capabilities for Corrective Action Requests allowing management to
follow the course of action taken when problems or potential problems arise in the
workplace. The system needed to provide the following:
- Web based interface
- Empower users to create
and update CARs
- Workflow of each CAR
- Notification of CAR
- Search capabilities
- Comprehensive reporting

Challenge
Multiple people were tracking CARs using Excel Spreadsheets. As each CAR was entered, it
was a manual process to notify users of the status and role of each Corrective Action.
Management would attempt to compile all information from the various spreadsheets when
reports were required for the compliance department. The environment was error
prone and very cumbersome to maintain because:
- CARs in various formats
- Data consistently keyed incorrectly
- Inability to retrieve status of some CARs
- Manual and time consuming reporting process
Solution
An ASP.Net web application was developed to handle the data entry, routing, and reporting
of Corrective Action Requests. The application is available to all internal users and
creates a role based workflow of each corrective action. A user logging onto the system
is presented with a list of Corrective Action Requests for which they are responsible.
Benefits
Users are immediatley notified of pending Action Items and can easily see the status of the
work they are assigned. Management is able to track all Corrective Action Requests on a daily basis and data is
available for lookup on demand. Management can create detailed reports of various aspects
of the Corrective Action cycle, audits can be performed with a few mouse clicks, and the
data is easily exported for use in other programs.
