3-4 years professional networking/back office systems
experience
Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining
application system servers, including web servers, in
support of business processing requirements. This is to
include complete hardware build on through to the operating
system and application installation/configuration and
ongoing production maintenance of the systems.
Under the general direction of the Enterprise Application
Manager, The Client Automation Administrator serves as
senior operational administrator for the centrally provided
and managed HP Client Automation Toolset. This individual
will be responsible for the configuration, integration, and
support of the HP Client Automation toolset including
software and patch distribution to servers and
desktops/laptops - state management of end devices as well
as management reporting.
The Client Automation Administrator is also a Project Team
Member, providing technical design and definition of
implementation tasks for specific enterprise projects of
moderately complex to complex technical scope. Primarily
this will involve technical and project partnering.
MAJOR FUNCTIONAL AREAS
Systems Engineering and Administration:
-Provide systems engineering and administrative support
across a wide array of Windows-based software and hardware
systems and components used to deliver computing service
with emphasis on Client Automation services.
-Provide primary support in maintaining and maturing the HP
Client Automation toolset
-Maintain an overall perspective of system issues in the
enterprise.
-Perform both routine and emergency systems administration
tasks in daily operations.
-Resolve a variety of problems of moderate to difficult
scope.
-Maintain operational responsibility for moderately complex
or complex production systems and services.
-Serve as an escalation point in the identification and
correction of moderately complex to complex computing
systems and applications problems, including interaction
with other support staff, others on campus or outside
vendors. Independently determine approaches and strategies.
Project Planning and Implementation :
-Partner with other IT entities
-Recommend modifications, including upgrades, additions or
deletions to moderately complex or complex systems or
services both on the server and desktop end. Provide
analysis and justification for recommendation, which may
include operational data, feasibility, technological
motivations, customer demand or need.
-Perform systems administration tasks for project
implementations, adhering to established standards.
Training and Development:
-Meet regularly with teammates to maintain knowledge of
current activities, operational standards and current
installation methods.
-Assist in identifying relevant training opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Experience with HP Client Automation for software
distribution is desirable.
-Experience providing high-level technical support from a
central support model.
-Substantial experience as a hands-on system administrator
of Windows-based systems / x86 based servers and in support
of a wide variety of application packages.
-Relevant experience with MS-Windows Active Directory and
the various implementation options.
-Experience in the migration and consolidation of isolated
domain structures.
-Experience installing and supporting Windows-based
internetworking, remote access and network-based
applications in a multi-platform environment.
-Experience dealing with user accounts and the various
implications of such a function.
-Experience with common x86 hardware technologies and
platforms.
-Experience with one or more scripting tools.
-SQL database query and reporting ability.
-Ability to develop, present and justify recommendations
based on technical analyses.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team
providing timely, high quality customer-focused services to
the campus communities.
-Ability to solve problems under time pressure with
frequent interruptions and work effectively in a variety of
roles with both technical and non-technical personnel.
